Issues with Adobe Reader Crashing during saving or renaming

Good Day All,

I provide support for an organization and I have a staff user who is having issues consistently with losing work during the saving process (not during the actual work progress) just they seem to lose their data during any renaming or saving of the work in progress.  As well, they're on Mac OS X Sierra 10.12.4, with the version of Adobe Reader DC 2015.023.20056.  I had installed a newer version of this software, but he seems to have installed over it in his work progression.  Not to sure if this will gain any answers, just wanted to see if anybody had some recommendations of what to do.  The saving of a PDF seems to take about 25 seconds or so (due to the large documents he works on, we do lots of proposal work with data collection information).  If the program crashes during the saving (which not 100% but does happen often), it will lose the actual copy of the data it was working on, autosave doesn't help at all
