Latest update causes pdf links in word 2016 which are linked to websites to no longer open

Each machine with the June update installed (and the hotfix doesn't help) no longer has hyperlinks in word documents linked to external websites that work properly.  The link opens, but Word then crashes.  If Adobe Reader is uninstalled, other PDF programs properly open these external links from a Word hyperlink.  Any ideas on how to resolve it?
