Looks like a bug with the Comment Tool of Acrobat Reader - can anyone help?

Hi, I am facing this issue with the "comment tool" in Acrobat Reader. Whenever I select the pen for the first time on a page, or select a color for the first time, the pen gets automatically deselected after the first stroke. However, if I select the pen again, it remains selected until I change the page or change the color. It is very annoying. Is this a bug or it is happening only on my machine?

Any suggestion will be helpful.

    Hi Anand

Thanks for your mail. I had the latest version and it was happening to all

pdf's. Now I did a clean re-install of Acrobat Reader DC and that fixed the

    problem. Sorry for the trouble.

    Hello Debashist,

We're sorry for the trouble you had with the comments tool. What is the dot version of Adobe Reader installed? To identify refer to Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC

Is it a Mac or Windows machine and what is the version of OS installed? I tried replicating the issue at my end, but I am not able to reproduce the issue as when I select the pen for the first time on a PDF page in Adobe Reader, the pen is selected and active till I choose any other tool in the comment tool. Same with the Color for other Commenting tools.

Is it possible to share a video of the issue you are referring to? To share the video please use Adobe Send feature, login to https://cloud.acrobat.com/send using your Adobe ID(email) and password, upload the file, share the link to files via private message only, How Do I Send Private Message

Is it specific to one PDF or with all the PDF files?

Make sure that you have the latest version of Adobe Reader installed, check for any pending updates from help>check for updates, reboot the machine after updating Adobe Reader.

Let us know how it goes and share your observation.

    Thanks,

    Anand Sri.
