Losing link to PDF within a PDF when emailing

Working in Acrobat Pro DC. I'm linking to a file (PDF) within my PDF. This works when I check it. However, as soon as I attach it to an email (apple mail 9.2), I lose the link. Same thing happens when using Gmail. Any help is appreciated.

You can change this in the properties of the link.

Ok, that sounds an entirely separate problem. Is there any message when Acrobat quits?

I switched to my laptop and I can link to the attachment. I'm almost there. What I'm trying to accomplish is this: I want to start with the original document, click on the link and have a new window open. Right now, it's CHANGING the window to the link.

Thank you. I believe I'm doing it correctly, but each time I choose "go to page view", Acrobat is quitting.

You're linking to the file. Like I said YOU CANNOT LINK TO A FILE.

What doesn't work? Please be specific about your steps to attach PDF to PDF and link between them. YOU CANNOT LINK TO THE FILE.

I opened a PDF that I created from InDesign. I select "Edit PDF", clink on "Add/Edit Link", choose action > open a file > new window. I choose the file in my downloads folder, then hit OK.

When I check it with the hand tool, it opens in a new window, just as I want. However, after attaching it to an email, I lose the link.

You must link to the attachment:

I want the user to open the main pdf. Within one of the articles I’d like a link to open another pdf in a separate page in Acrobat.

Attach the pdf to the main pdf and create a link to this attachment.

The PDF I'm linking to is in my downloads folder.

Note: the receiver of the email can't access your download folder.
