Margin option not available?

I have the problem that I want to tile a big document into A0 pages. The problem is described here. The main point why it not works, is because the margin option is disabled. Same as the problem already mentioned here. However there is no solution for my problem in this thread.

I use Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Version 2017. I also have Illustrator CC 2017, however there is the same problem, I cannot set the margins.

So in acrobat reader the dialog box is simply disabled:

How can I solve this, how can I add margins? I need the margins because otherwise as described in my original problem thread I have no margins in the final splitted A0 pages.
