Microsoft Edge vs Adobe Reader DC over PDF printing

I have posted to HP and Windows 10 forum, and you guys are my last hope.  I have Windows 10 and HP Envy 4520 printer.  Printer worked perfectly printing PDF docs using Adobe Reader when I was using desktop running Win 7.  That desktop was replaced by a similar one running Windows 10.  I needed to print a PDF document.  Job was sent to print que, printer responded printing the doc, except the only printer only printer a couple of straight lines (like a border of a frame) but no letters.  Process looked and sounded appropriate.

I went on both HP and Microsoft forums and tried fixes suggested (many of which I had already tried) with no success.  Word document printed as it should have.  PDF saved from old Win 7 desktop printed as it should have.  PDF print default set to Adobe.  Windows 10 did print as image but resolution very bad.

Being an old time PC user I know how quirky software can be.  Based on everything I’ve tried the hardware and drivers function normally.  As Edge was made default PDF printer in Win 10 I have a hunch it Is causing some conflict.  Too bad it can’t be removed.  I also wonder if the print to PDF option is hosing the process.  Acrobat Reader is my choice to print PDF and by golly I really want to resolve this problem.

i have not seen my particular issue in any forum or web search.  It seems like it should be a simple fix but all many, many hours troubleshooting are to no avail.

Help!  Please!  Thanks.

Hi Karene,

As per the issue description, you are getting straight lines when trying to print pdf in Acrobat Reader on your Win10 machine, is that correct?

Could you try installing the latest patch available for Reader using "Check for updates" option under "Help" menu, reboot the machine after installing update and try again. You may also download updates from here: Adobe - Adobe Reader : For Windows

If that doesn't work, try repairing Reader using "Repair installation" option under Help menu, reboot the machine after repair and try printing pdf files again.

Also, let us know dot version of Reader installed on the machine? You may refer to the steps given in this link on how to check the version in Reader: Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC

Let us know if you need any help.
