Missing hyphen when copying an email address from a PDF

We are facing an issue with missing hyphen when copying an email address from a PDF.

For example, if a PDF has an email addresses like smith@sun-market.com (Hyphen is displayed correct),

when we open this PDF with Adobe Reader 2017 and copy the email address and paste it in notepad, outlook or other clipboards, the hyphen is missing for example smith@sunmarket.com (Hyphen gets lost)

Is this a known issue? How can we fix it?

Best regards

It most likely has to do with how the file was created. Did you create it? If so, how?

If not, report this issue to the creator. They need to use "hard" hyphens, not "soft" ones (like the ones that appear at the end of a line when a word is broken into two parts). The latter get removed when copied from the PDF, as they should be.
