Question

Modified File loses inheritance file permissions

In the current release 2023,008,20555 - x64 i got some issues with saving a modified file.

When i save the file with a different name everything is fine.

When saving the file with the same name and overwriting it the file loses every inherited file rights.

Inheritance is simply deactivated for the file after Acrobat Reader has overwritten it.

Someone else expecting this behavior?

Any advice?

(Tested on two different Clients - One Server, one Workstation)

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the delay.

Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check. If the file is stored on a shared network/drive please download it to your computer locally and then try again.

What is the version of the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 24.01.20604 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and see if that works.

You may also try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://adobe.ly/49YmQ2S and check.

Let us know how it goes.

Hey Amal,

first thanks for the response.

The behavior occours with every PDF File.

Files are stored local.

Acrobat version is the newest version available.

I've already reinstalled several times.

Resetting the Preferences didn't help either.

Best regards

Felix

Hi there

Would you mind sharing a small video recording of your steps and the issue occurring for more clarity?

Also, collect and share the logs described in the help page: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-diagnostics.html  to narrow the investigation.
