Question

"Mousepad scrolls to next page despite 'Enable Scrolling' being unchecked (Version 2025.001.20467)"

Problem Description: I'm in "Single Page View," have "Enable Scrolling" unchecked in the View menu, but scrolling with the mousepad still jumps to the next page, unlike keyboard navigation.

  • Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Open any PDF.
    2. Go to View > Page Display > Single Page View.
    3. Go to View > Page Display and ensure Enable Scrolling is UNCHECKED.
    4. Attempt to scroll down with the mousepad.
    5. Observe that it scrolls to the next page instead of remaining on the current page.
  • Adobe Acrobat Version: Adobe Acrobat Reader DC | Continuous release | Version 2025.001.20467 | 64-bit.
  • Also the "Use mouse wheel to scroll: Single page at a time" preference is no longer present in Edit > Preferences > Page Display in this version.

I am being annoyed by the same experience. When I am zoomed into a page, the mouse wheel moves the page vertically or horizontally (if the mouse supports) within the window. The undesired action of Acrobat moving to the previous or next page when using the mouse wheel or trackpad to scroll to the boundary of a single page is what we are referring to.

  • When zoomed into a page, the mouse wheel should act exactly like the hand tool - moving the one page within the window.
  • The hand tool does not advance to another page when moving the view past its boundary.
  • The mouse wheel should only advance pages when the view is to full-page.

Hopefully this describes the issue enough to be recreated by anyone who can offer a solution without requiring system logs or other unnecessary information.

Hello @Dr Hammad!

I hope you are doing well, and thanks for reaching out.

Is it happening with any specific PDFs, like when you receive a multi-page PDF or create one and experience this issue? Are you on a Mac or Windows machine, and what is the version?

Try the following workaround and let us know if that works for you:

Check General Preferences:

  • Go to Menu > Preferences > General
  • Enable:
    • “Make hand tool select text and images”
    • “Make hand tool read articles”
  • Disable:
    • “Make hand tool use mouse wheel zooming”
  • Click OK and restart Acrobat

Try Accessibility Settings:

  • Go to Menu > Preferences > Accessibility
  • Check “Always use Page Layout Style.”
  • Set it to Single Page (not Continuous)

Also, check for any pending updates of Acrobat from the Menu > Help > Check for updates, install any pending updates, restart Acrobat and the machine, and check.

If the issue persists, please share the current version of the operating system installed, a quick screen recording showing the issue, a sample PDF file, and the machine's logs. Download the Log collector tool, run it, ensure all the log options are selected, and try to reproduce the issue. Close the log collector tool. It will generate the logs and a log ID. Please share it with us for further investigation.

Thanks for your time and cooperation on this.

Anand Sri.

None of the  “workarounds” work for me. Acrobat still scrolls into the next page when using the mouse wheel to navigate a zoomed page.

Let’s assume anyone has the most updated version of the app before submitting an issue. As of today, my version is 2026.001.21431.

Hello @Paul M. Zahorosky

Thank you for sharing the details. Could you please capture a screen recording of the issue, and if possible, share the PDF file through which you are able to reproduce the issue?

Also, capture the logs of the machine while reproducing the issue, and share them with us for further investigations. Download the Log collector tool, run it, ensure all the log options are selected, and try to reproduce the issue. Close the log collector tool. It will generate the logs and a log ID. Please share it with us.

Regards,

Anand Sri.
