I have multiple users experiencing an drawing error message when opening up a pdf that went through Docusign or from encypted file share. When running pre-flight it asks to save a new file and unfortunately I cannot do that sinced its signed PDF or shared PDF that is being worked on.

I have uninstalled and re-installed Adobe

I cleared Adobe’s cache

I went to into print preview and unchecked only use system fonts / checked it

I will be happy to provide more information if needed. I know this is only a quick summary. I can use all the help I can get!

Thank you so much

    Hello @itwonderperson

I hope you are doing well, and thank you for reaching out.

When a PDF is digitally signed (DocuSign) or encrypted / rights‑restricted (secure file share), Acrobat may display a drawing/rendering error if it can’t fully process or repaint certain page content.

In those cases, Preflight may prompt you to save a new copy because its fixes work by rewriting the PDF structure, but rewriting a signed or protected PDF can invalidate the signature or be blocked by security restrictions, so “Save As / Save a new file” isn’t always feasible in your workflow.

    Suggestions:

Please ensure you have the latest version of Acrobat installed on the machine: Version: 25.001.21223 Planned update. Feb 17, 2026. Check for any pending updates by navigating to Menu > Help> Check for Updates. Install the updates, restart the app and the machine, and try again.

    1. Steps (Windows):
      1. Menu > Preferences > Page Display.
      2. Deselect “Optimize Page Interactions”
      3. Restart Acrobat.

Is it happening with all the PDFs, or with one specific PDF? If the issue continues, please share the following details:

    • Acrobat version (Menu > Help > About)
    • OS version
    • Whether the PDF is:
      • DocuSign signed (yes/no)
      • Encrypted / permission‑restricted (yes/no)
    • Whether the issue happens with all DocuSign/secured PDFs or only specific ones
    • If possible, a sanitized sample (or a similar file that reproduces it)

    Regards,

    Anand Sri.
