Question

New download of Adobe Reader DC and black cursor box won't go away

I already did the workaround deleting the cache file mentioned, and I cannot get that awful black box cursor to stop.  This has been going on for YEARS and no one has figured out a permanent fix?

Also it always defaults to duplex printing unless I catch it in time to manually change it.  Is there a setting to default to one sided printing only?

Horrible app.  I have Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, using as a server.  Would love to download an older version of Acrobat Reader but your website does not give me that option, says if I have Windows 7, I have to use Acrobat DC.

Please help, I have wasted countless hours on these issues and no to avail.

thank you.

Hi Lindac,

Sorry to hear the inconvenience caused to you.

As mentioned that you have already tried the solution suggested in- Mouse pointer changes into a black box or square when moved over blank areas in a PDF document

For testing purpose, you may try uninstalling the application using the cleaner tool- Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

and download it- Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Install for all versions

For single sided printing hope you have checked the- help doc Print double-sided | Adobe Acrobat, Reader DC ?

Still if you would like to downgrade to the previous version of Adobe Reader, then refer to the following link-

Release Notes | Adobe Acrobat, Reader Or 11.0.0 Major Release Oct 15, 2012 — Release Notes for Legacy Acrobat Products

Hope this helps a bit.

Regards,
