newer version exists, error 1722, existing posts are not helping

My computer refreshed itself. It deleted the Adobe program/app when it did. I have tried numerous times to reinstall it.

I have looked in my files, there's nothing there. I read the tip in the forum to sweep and then reinstall from a supplied link.

When I did that, it gave me error 1722

What do I do next? I clicked on a link in a error 1722 discussion and it took me to a microsoft website with a bunch of stuff I wasn't sure of so I stopped.

I am running Windows 8.

I have tried installing with chrome and with internet explorer.

I really need some help on this please!
