Question

On multiple Displays the Acrodar Reader XI Print Dialog is diplayed always on Display 1

I have 2 displays.

My Adobe Acrobat Reader is XI (11.0.19).

Very often I use the Acrobat Reader on Display #2 because it is bigger.

When I print a document always the print dialog is showed on display 1.

Can this behavior be changed?

As far as I observed, the Adobe is the only program to do this.

Print dialog is displayed on the exact screen that the program is opened for Word 2016, Paint, Firefox 52 etc...

I also noticed the attention-grabbing focus-stealing of reader when you drag something over and it is not for him, many have pointed it and asked, still not solved...

Hi Nickd,

As per the information give above, it sounds like you don't have any problem opening the application on 2nd monitor. However, the print dialog is always coming up on primary monitor.

You may certain settings of the application as well as system display.

  • How do you get the application opened  on 2nd monitor? Do you have the task bar enabled for the 2nd monitor and Acrobat Reader is pinned to the task bar? If not then check and enable task-bar on 2nd monitor from system's display setting.
  • When you drag the print dialog to the 2nd monitor from 1st, and close the application so does this bring the print dialog back to the primary monitor?
  • Open Acrobat Reader go to>Edit>Preferences(Ctrl+K)>Documents> "Restore last view settings when reopening document" is it checked or not? If not, then enable it.
  • Open app on 2nd monitor drag the print dialog on 2nd monitor>Close it>and reopen it and see if that makes any difference.

Let us know if that helps.

I checked right now with multiple documents.

The Reader always opens on Display 2.

The Print Dialog always openes on Display 1.

I opened Edit>Preferences>Documents> "Restore last view settings when reopening document" it was not checked, I enabled it, closed Reader.

Opened document again, it opens on Display 2, opened Print..., it opens on Display 1, moved Print Dialog to Display 2, closed, close Reader.

Open the same document again, it opens on Display 2, opened Print... it opens on Display 1.

Tried moving Print Dialog to Display 2 and close the Reader multiple times on multiple documents, no effect.

Hi Nickd,

Thanks for trying the workaround and sharing the steps with us.

Unfortunately, in the application itself there isn't any specific setting that can be changed or applied to make this work.

It depends on your system display settings preferences.

To check the same we have tried to reproduce the issue and checked on our system. With the help of settings shared above with you, I'm able to achieve the correct result. The application and print dialog both opens on same monitor (secondary).

Try changing the display settings once and also the "Task Bar" for 2nd monitor.  apart from there isn't anything else that can be referred.
