Cannot use Acrobat Reader. Is it not free any more?

Having to force quit and use preview instead.

Uninstalling Acrobat Reader.

Wasting my time.

Acrobat reader has always been free. Why do I suddenly need to sign in at all to use the free edition?

I have an Adobe account, I have a subscription to Adobe but it is really, really .... annoying when it asks me to sign in every time I open a PDF via Reader or Acrobat. It is very intrusive and wasting a lot of my time.

It is equally frustrating that the software has to be force quit to stop it asking. We have no choice but to log in or crash out.
