PDF files not opening in Adobe Reader but opening in Chrome

I have a couple of pdf files which I'm not able to open in Adobe Reader. The message I get when trying to open them is "Can't open this file. There's a problem with the file format". The weird thing is I can open both of the files if I choose to open them with Chrome.

Every other pdf file I have opens perfectly with Adobe Reader.

Any ideas what the problem could be?
