PDF link capability

I would like to create a master PDF that is made from a series of linked PDF files.  I would like these to be visible for viewing like consecutive pages in a standard PDF file.  Further I would like the images in the master file to update if the individual PDF files are changed.  I've explored Portfolio and this stores the PDF's within and doesn't seem to update when external files are changed.

I'm sure someone has the same need as I.  We use this to store a master drawing of a manufactured assembly and its made from common parts used in many other places.  If a change occurs to one of the parts I would rather not chase down all the PDF's its placed in.  Is this possible in Adobe Acrobat DC?

Thank you kindly.

Forget the idea of a self-updating PDF. There is no way to do this and little prospect of it. Instead focus on automating your PDF production process, so the document assembly is fast and painless.
