PDFs Will Not Open in IE

We are having an issue with Adobe Reader 11.0.18 app-v package where PDFs will not load within IE.11 running on Win2K8R2.  It attempts to load but the new tab closes after a few seconds. I have verified that the Adobe reader add-on is listed in the "Run Without Permissions" list.  I have also confirmed that all of the visualized apps are cached on the server. I found the article that is related to what seems to be a similar issue where toggling the add-on "enabled to disabled" worked for some but that hasn't worked for me. Anyone have any luck with resolving this issue?
