Permit update on demand - suppress Adobe Updater

I agree with the OP in all respects.  The Adobe rep reply is wholly unresponsive to the issues.  

Adobe can "...ensure App remains updated to the latest version with all new features and security fixes" by alerting users that updates are available when needed.  Simple as that.  No obnoxious behavior required.  The rep might respond, "that wouldn't `ensure updates'", however, neither does the current alternative of turning off auto-updates.  

Also, the claim that the auto-update feature can be switched off is not entirely correct.  It MUST be enabled to allow ANY updates.  There is no "update now" or "manual update" option.  The ONLY update option is in the background.  Hence, if we agree that updates are sometimes needed, then the auto-update feature cannot be switched off, as claimed.  Furthermore, with the auto-update feature switched off, there is never an indication that updates are available.  

Is the problem that the Adobe software is SO riddled with bugs and security issues that updates are required practically continuously, and Adobe is afraid of alienating it's userbase by alerting them every time there's a security update?

Thanks for sharing your feedback. The updater runs in the backgroud to ensure App remains updated to the latest version with all new features and security fixes. We recommend to allow Adobe Reader/Acrobat to auto update itslef in the background but you can change the setting in preferences dialog.
