Problem searching in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC  Version 2020.009.20065

The pdf file was created from Microsoft Publisher as part of Office 365  Version 2004 (build  12730.20270)

using  PRINT and selecting the printer          Microsoft Print to pdf

If I try to Find anything using CTRL/F or using the Advanced Find tool I get 2 effects

  1.  If the text I am searching for is less than about 12 point it returns nothing.
  2. If the text is greater than about 12 point, it finds it.

If I copy and paste into the find box,  larger test pastes correctly, smaller text pastes as a small rectangle for each letter.

I was originally using the find tool in File Explorer to search a whole bunch of pdfs to find the one I wanted.

Again I think that was working for larger text only.

A pdf created from Word (same Office 365 installation)  can be searched (large or small) with no problems.

What is going on?  More to the point can I get round it?

Hi,

It looks like the PDF file has some encoding issues. Please try printing the PDF again using 'Save As Adobe PDF' and try using the search tool again.

Also, could please share the bug files with us

Let me know if this workaround works.

Hi,

That seems to work.

Didn't know you could do that!

Thanks

If you still want the bug files you will have to teach me how to create and find them.
