Problem selecting and copying text

I have a large document. In the past I've been able to select and copy text - and paste it into another app such as a Word doc. However, of late whenever I select a section of text, even just a few lines, Acrobat Reader goes into 'thinking' mode, where the little icon spins around indefinately, until finally I have to close out of the program.

The PDF document hasn't changed at all, and in fact I've downloaded a 'new' copy in case it got corrupted someonhow. And I did the same by re-installing my Adobe Read 2022 app, which is the latest version. I'm running a Surface Pro 8 tablet with Win 11.

I'm wondering if this is an issue with the latest version of Reader ... or?

Any thoughts on what might be happening or how I can fix this. (PS - the document contains Chinese characters, but up until now I've been able to copy and paste this too, with no issues.)

Best, D.

Hi @david k

Sorry to hear about the trouble caused, and thanks for well explaining the situation.

Do you experience this issue with a specific document? and how do you compy the text from this file? Use select tool>select text>right click and Copy?

Try changing the following preferences setting and see if that helps:

Navigate to Reader>Edit>Preferences>Security (Enhanced)>disable "Protected Mode at Startup", Protected View and "Enhanced Security">OK>Reboot Reader and reopen the file.

Note: these changes are only for testing purposes. Once tested, please change it back to the previous setting.

If it still doesn't work, share the original file with us, we'll test the same at our end.

Thanks,

Akanchha
