Problem signing PDF documents using Adobe Reader DC 64 bits

Hello!

I Have the latest Reader installed (64 bits)
I'm using IE (or Edge in IE mode) with the Activex to open a PDF document.
When I try to sign the document, I'm getting this "Incorrect Parameter 2148073511" error:
-->Windows Cryptographic Service provider reported an error: Incorrect Parameter 2148073511

 

As a workaround, I uninstalled the 64 bits version, and back to the 32 bits version.  Unfortunatly, this wont do because the reader update itself back to the 64 bits version when I try to sign again!

Please help!

    Sorry for the trouble.

    It appears this is a general error encountered by users who try to sign their PDF files. The apps used are totally different than the one you already have which means there must be a problem with the Windows installation.

    I recommend applying all the Windows Updates available through your operating system in Windows Update.

    Additionally, you could reset the Cryptographic Service. To do this, go to Start > Run > services.msc. Right click the service in the list and then select Restart.

     

    Please check with your signature device or driver manufacturer for an updated driver that may resolve this error.

    If the requested hashing algorithm is not supported by the signature device, then the solution is to set registry key aSignHash to SHA1 as described on this page. However, this is not a recommended approach as this would set SHA1 as the default hashing algorithm for all signatures, which is considered deprecated industry wide. Therefore, Adobe strongly recommends checking with your signature device or driver manufacturer to get a newer device or driver that supports SHA256 or higher hashes.

    Thank you for pointing out "hashing algorithm is not supported" It might be this. Talking right now with the device representative.  Downgrading to SHA1 would be unproductive. 

     

    Are there any logs we could search for on the Windows computer concerning the adobe error?  Found none on Windows event viewer. Any logging from the software? Maybe running it in some troubleshooting mode?
