    Hello Deborag,

We're sorry for the trouble you had, as per the description above, I can understand that Adobe Reader is freezing when you open a PDF file, Is that correct?

Please check for any pending updates of Adobe Reader from help>check for updates, reboot the machine after updating Adobe Reader.

You may also try resetting the Adobe Reader's Preferences once and reboot the machine, to reset the Preferences, refer to the steps mentioned in the article How to reset Acrobat Preference settings to default.

Is Adobe Reader freezes while opening one PDF or with all the PDF files? What is the dot version of Adobe Reader installed? To identify, refer to Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC

What is the version of Mac OS installed?

If freezing issue still persists after updating and resetting the Preferences, then use Acrobat cleaner tool to remove Adobe Reader from the machine and reboot the computer Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs then install the latest version of Adobe Reader from the URL Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution

Let us know how it goes and share your observation.

    Thanks,

    Anand Sri.

Adobe is a company. What exact Adobe application are you referring to?

It's in the Acrobat Reader forum, so.. hint.
