Problem with dowloading Acrobat DC

The item I want to edit is not locked and I work on Windows 2010, if it helps. I cannot download  Acrobat Reader DC but anytime I try to open my pdf document to  editt (I thought I downloaded  it as I clicked finish button at the end of downloading) it takes me to download Acrobat DC again and then any time I try to do it,  this annoying message appears: "Conflict installing Acrobat DC"   I have lost so much time for this, Please help.
