Could you please confirm the exact version Adobe Reader you are working on? Open Reader>Help>About Reader . This would help identifying, whether you are using the latest version or not.
There are two error messages coming up. As explained above, you have trouble opening the file as well. For the first one where you get "Access denied" message, You may check with a different pdf than IRS form. It could be document security that isn't allowing you to make any changes in it.
For second error "Document could not be printed" you may follow the troubleshooting steps suggested below-
Causes:
Data corruption in the PDF.
Damaged installation of Adobe Reader/Acrobat.
Solution:
To potentially repair a PDF file so that it no longer produces the errors:
- Open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat (or another PDF editing program).
- Do Save As to PDF/A format.
To work around the errors in Adobe Reader/Acrobat, do one of the following:
Print the PDF as an image:
- In the Adobe Reader/Acrobat print window, click the Advanced button.
- Select the "Print as Image" checkbox.
Turn off protected mode:
- In Adobe Reader/Acrobat, click Preferences under the Edit menu.
- Click the "Security (Enhanced)" tab.
- Turn off one or more of the following settings:
- Enable Protected Mode at startup
- Protected View
- Enable Enhanced Security
Note: Changing the above security settings could pose security risks. See the Adobe Help documentation for more information.
Additional: Adobe Acrobat and Reader official update containing the fix for this issue is now available. This update will be automatically pushed to all existing installations of Acrobat and Reader. If you want, you may also manually trigger the update by opening the application and going to Help > Check for Updates.
