Problems with Adobe Reader

I have the latest version of Adobe Reader. I just received a pdf manuscript from my publisher. In the past, I have had no problems downloading them and printing them. This latest pdf will not print. A prompt states function not allowed and sends me to a site to purchase Adobe Pro. What is happening here?
