rdrcef.exe crashing 0xc0000022 & 0xc0000409

I have a user that has Adobe reader DC that crashes while opening PDF files.  The crashes are with rdrcef.exe, and the error message was 0xc0000022.  The software has been uninstalled and reinstalled, and I tried the 'run as' trick and ran the Adobe as a domain admin.  After that, the rdrcef.exe error was 0xc0000409.  This issue is driving us nuts.  I renamed the rdrcef.exe file and the errors stopped for a week, but they came back as rdrcef.exe was either replaced by the reader or replaced by an update.

I see this error a lot when Googling for it, so I would assume Adobe is aware of this issue.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The machine is a Dell E5550, 8G, Win7 - 64 bit.  We are on a domain network with ~130 users.  This is the only user experiencing this issue.  Please help!

Thank you for your time!

    Hello JasonBaker,

You must try the following steps-

Run the repair for the of Microsoft visual C++ 2013 Redistributable(x64&x86) and try again.

Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features\Visual C++ Redistributable 2013 (right click and repair)

If it still doesn't work then, uninstall it completely and reinstall it again through-

Download Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 from Official Microsoft Download Center

    Relaunch the Acrobat

Let us know if it still doesn't work.

    Hi JasonBaker,

Please try the repair installation of the application and try to uninstall and reinstall the application using the Adobe cleaner tool.

Please refer to the link below for the cleaner tool:

Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

Let me know how it goes.

    Thanks,
