Re: A newer version is installed, 1722 error

I tried the same steps for installing Acrobat Reader- uninstalled, used cleaner, then the 6 steps of Windows C++ but I still can't install Acrobat Reader. It gives me a message saying newer version installed but there is no adobe product in my laptop except for Flash. Windows 8.1 64bit

    Hi Gayo,

    I am sorry for the delayed response and inconvenience caused, please reboot the machine once and check for any pending updates of Windows from the control panel. reboot the machine after updating Windows.

    Then use Acrobat cleaner tool to remove any leftover installation and corrupt files of Adobe Reader from the machine Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

    Reboot the again and then follow the suggestion from the following Adobe article Error 1722 with Windows installer package of Acrobat DC

    Reboot the machine and download the setup of Adobe Reader from ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/AcrobatDC/1900820081/

    Locate the setup and right click on it and choose ‘properties’.

    Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select Windows 7/XP operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation.

    Once this is done, restart the computer and locate Adobe Reader icon, right-click and choose 'Run as Administrator'.

    If you still experience any issue, please create a test user profile with full admin rights and install Adobe Reader from above ftp url and check.
