Reader closesafter few seconds.

As mentioned that you get the error 11100 when trying to check for updates. After uninstalling and reinstalling the application, updates are not required because you get to install the latest version of Application.

The troubleshooting steps to perform in such scenario are-

• Use cleaner tool to uninstall the application completely Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs  and then reinstall it- Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Install for all versions
• If this doesn't help, then there might be an issue with the user account you are working with. You may create a Hidden Administrator account and check in that- https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/555910/how-to-enable-the-built-in-administrator-account-in-windows-vista
