Reader shrunk a document 4 percent from the original.

I'm using Reader version 2022.003.20263 64 bit in Windows 10.

I have used Adobe Reader for many years as a built-in feature of WordPerfect, having converted many documents to pdf. In all these years of use, I never have encountered any problem at all except the occasional failure of Reader to render an odd typeface in italics, or something else relatively minor.

This time, there was a problem. I created business cards with the Avery 8871 template and converted the document to pdf with Reader. It did not match the Avery template as originally created. I measured it and discovered that the pdf was 4% smaller in both dimensions than the original. What could have caused this, and how can it be remedied?

Nothing like this has ever occurred before, including many previous uses of Avery templates to make business cards.
