Question

Reader won't remember Tools Menu setting

I just re-installed Windows after a nasty crash, and re-installed a bunch of apps including Reader.

But now I can't turn off the Tools Menu appearing when I open a file in Reader. I found, and followed, the instructions to turn off its display, but the next time I opened Reader, the menu returns.

Any other place where I can tweak to resolve this issue?

Hi @Bob-the-Commuter

This is a known issue at our end.

For Adobe Reader (32/64 bit) you can retain the customized document view settings from the preference under Menu > Preferences > Documents > restore Last View setting when reopening documents.

But, you cannot make All tools Pane sticky/non sticky based on this preference. We have kept a not of this and will be updating you once it is picked up for fixing from engineering team.

Regards,

Bhawna.

Could changing the read-only status of an Adobe appdata subfolder cause the "remember last state of Tools Pane" to work properly, and which subfolder would need to have this status change?

Hi @Bob-the-Commuter

Sorry to hear about the trouble caused, and thanks for bringing it to our attention.

We assume you are referring to the Toolpane on Modern Viewer. Please check if, under Reader's preferences,

Menu>Preferences>General>Restore the current setting of the Toolpane option is selected or not.

If yes, you still haven't been able to hide it. Then it's a known issue already escalated to the engineering team.

Currently, they are looking into it, and a fix version will be available in the near future.

Thanks,

Akanchha

I am not seeing this option.
