ReaderDC won't stay open

I have uninstalled and reinstalled ReaderDC twice now, changed my permissions to the max, and this error still occurs:

(from the Appication event log)

Faulting process id: 0x1390

Faulting application start time: 0x01d2fa654a252da4

Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat Reader DC\Reader\AcroRd32.exe

Faulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\kernel32.dll

I run Windows 7, sp1 on a Dell Inspiron 530. I have not had trouble with Reader until last week. Several things occurred that might be an influence. Windows Update installed KB3186497 on the 8th and I installed Driver Support, which updates drivers, last week.

I have looked at the highly technical problem from April. I can't keep Reader open to even give the repair option a try.

Is there a fix or a workaround? Any help is appreciated!

Thx. C

    Hi Carol,

Sorry for the delay in response.

You may try troubleshooting steps suggested below if planning to use Adobe Reader to view pdf files on your computer:

1- Download and run Cleaner tool from this link: Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

    2- Reboot the machine.

3- Install Reader DC from here: Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution

Try launching Reader and see if it works with out any issue. If not, try launching Reader as an administrator: Run an Adobe program as administrator | Windows 7, Vista

    Thank You,

    Shivam

Thx for your answer, Shivam. Unfortunately, the program still won't open, doesn't even get past the screen with its title. This time, though, the faulting process was not identified in the application log. But thx for helping. I think that the latest Windows update, applied just before the Adobe upgrade, changed kernel32.dll just enough to make DC not run in Win7. It does run without incident on my Win10 computer. I'll just use Foxit on this computer. Thx again. C

OK. I will mark this as answered after finishing this edit.

I have tried v.11, same result. I am pretty sure that I'm likely (if anyone ever answers) to be told to create a dump so the problem can be researched in depth.

As I need use of the program right now, I've uninstalled all Adobe Reader programs and installed Foxit's Reader, which works fine. When I get a new computer, I will try Adobe Reader again. Otherwise I'll be Foxit's customer.
