Retrieve Document Open Password

A company sent us a pdf document and forgot the password to open the document. We are trying to retieve the password as company policy is that they cannot resubmit the document as it contains financial data.

How can we retrieve the password.

Not possible with Acrobat Reader.

We know it's not possible with Adobe Reader. What we want to know is if it's possible. If this means we need to purchase the Adobe Acrobat Pro version to be able to retrieve the password then we would make that purchase. However, we don't want to spend unnecessarily and purchase the Pro version and still cannot get the password for the document.

Also not possible with Adobe Acrobat.
