I hope you are doing well, and thank you for reaching out.

 

Please ensure you have the latest version of Acrobat installed on the machine: 25.001.20937. Planned update, Nov 20, 2025. Check for any pending updates by navigating to Menu > Help> Check for Updates. Install the updates, restart the app and the machine, and try again.

Check Preferences

  • Go to Menu(Windows)/Acrobat(Mac)> Preferences > Documents.
  • Ensure that “Restore last view settings when reopening documents” is selected.

Verify Recent Files

  • Open a few PDFs, then close Acrobat without closing the documents individually.
  • Restart Acrobat and see if the menu becomes active.

Try resetting Acrobat Reader Preferences once, and restart the app and the machine. See this article to reset the Preferences: https://adobe.ly/48oSQgV

 

If the issue persists, please use the Acrobat Cleaner tool to perform a clean installation, restart the machine, and then download Acrobat Reader from the direct link.

Could you please share more information? Could you please share a screenshot of the menu? What version of the OS is installed? Have you tried the clean installation as shared above?
