Question

Saving changes while another user is viewing file on the the same server

I'm looking for a solution to an error message that comes up when I try to save changes to a PDF when it is open (in reader) at another location on the same server. I am the only user who has access to the full Pro DC version and does all the editing, so it is extremely inconvenient to have to track down anyone at my work who may have a certain PDF open just so I can save any updates. I understand, other users won't see the changes until they exit out and reopen the file, but I really hope someone knows if this is possible (and what settings make it possible).

This problem lays it the way the file systems handles files. You can't overcome this with Acrobat or Reader. You can add links to certain folders or files your users have to click to open those. For example: You create two folders. One for the current file version and one reserved for the upate version in the future. Then create a link that points to the the file with the current version. Once you've updated the file, you put it into the other folder and then change the settings of the link to open this one. You users will still use the same link but will always get the desired version. Next time you've update the form, you save the file again in the other folder and so on …
