Saving Issues (Specifically to Password Protect)

Since the latest version was release, I have experienced issues with saving PDF documents.  I fell like I am forced to save a second version of the file just to save it.  As an example, today, I just wanted to password protect a document for viewing.  There were no changes to the document information, so in my opinion, I should just be able to protect the document.  I had to first do a 'Save As' and create a new file and only after that could I save.  So now I have 2 files with different names.  I have to then go back and delete the original file and rename my new password protected file.  This is highly inefficient.

Does Adobe consult user groups and test actual functionality of the software before implementing this?  If you are ever looking for individuals to do the test run, I would gladly volunteer.

I was close to requesting our I.T. department remove Adobe and install BlueBeam due to my frustation using the software.  At first, the layout of the new Acrobat was too much much to get used to.  I was lucky to find the option to revert back to the previous Adobe layout.  Now I have this saving problem.

Something to try: Go to Menu (or Edit, if you're using the old Acrobat UI) - Preferences - Security (Enhanced) and uncheck the "Enable Enhanced Security" box, as well as "View in Protected Mode", "Run in AppContainer" or anything else with a similar name.

PS. You posted in the Reader forum, while this is an Acrobat issue...
