Saving PDF using the Edocs DM menu causes Reader to crash

When saving a PDF file in Reader using the eDocs DM menu, reader crashes and closes without any error messages.  The event viewer returns the following error:

The edocsreader.api file is old from 2017.  I am wondering if there's an updated api or another solution.  Currently many in my organization are having this issue.
