Screen view

When I open a pdf I only get two thirds of the view, all the control at the top are missing and wherever I have opened the pdf from ( e-mail or hard drive) - the cross in the top right hand corner of the screen controls the source, ie closes the programme that I have opened the pdf from. I can only close the pdf by right click on teh taskbar and close. Very frustrating, cannot print, cannot view full pdf, cannot save the document etc
