Question

"Send file by email" not working

In Acrobat Reader 2023.00120093 64-bit under Windows 10 I have configured the mail. The mail provider is Office365, and I have generated application password and specified it in reader. When I click on the envelope icon, I see the message "Connecting socket..." for a short instant, and then nothing. There are no error messages, but the email is not created in Drafts folder like it used to in the past.

Hi @v.rapp,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for your experience with Acrobat Reader.

If you still experience the issue, we suggest updating the application to the latest version (2023.002.20244) by going to Help-> Check for updates.

If it does not work, check if the first two Add-ins are enabled on Outlook by going to File-> Options-> Add-ins (screenshots attached).

Hope this helps.

I updated AR to the latest version 20244 , configured IMAP account, and made it default.

If I click the envelope in the toolbar and select "Webmail", I see the account I have configured as IMAP (while IMAP is certainly not webmail, which probably puts the competence of Adobe software architects into question, at least in the email protocols area); when I click "Next", I see 2 quickly changing white-on-black messages at the bottom, and then nothing. The messages in the draft folder are not created. It's pretty much like before.

As for the suggestion to check add-ins in Outlook, it looks like there's some misunderstanding here. I don't have Outlook on this computer, otherwise "Default mail application" would be working. We are talking about IMAP account configured under Preferences /Email accounts.
