Question

Signing a document with eID always fails the first time

Hello,

Since today I experience the following problem with signing a document with the (valid) certificate of my eID (electronic identification card): the first time I try to sign the document, Adobe Reader seems to skip the phase where the pincode for my eID is asked, and crashes. The document is saved, and the signature is there, but the signature is not valid (since my pincode could not be verified, I suppose). Strange enough, the second time I try it, there is no problem... This happens with every new document that I want to sign. Before, I did not experience that problem.

Has anyone experienced similar problems, knows what could be going on, and/or knows a solution ?

Thanks in advance !

    Hi Janvdvelde,

    Sorry to hear that.

As the application crashes first time on applying the signature to the PDF, please try the troubleshooting steps provided in the following help document.

    For Windows: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/acrobat/kb/acrobat-dc-crashes-on-windows-os.html

    For Mac: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/x-productkb/global/troubleshoot-system-errors-freezes-mac.html

Also, reset the application preferences using the steps provided here https://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-8511

If the issue persists, please provide the following details:

    - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC version

    - OS version on the machine

    - Did you makeany recent changes?

We will be waiting for your response.

    Regards,

    Meenakshi
