Slave to adobe pro

Hello, I am living hell since my trial with Adobe Pro which i cancelled. However, since then I am being held slave to this service which prevents me from reading any PDF unless I resubscribe. I am based in Europe and the Adobe Behaviour is completely illegal, however, I need an urgent way to get out of this before I go any further. Anyone know any help out there?

    Acrobat Reader and Acrobat are the same app now. It upgrades to Reader but does not downgrade. You must uninstall it, and start again with Reader.

    adobe reader is free and allows you to read pdfs.

     

    when downloading beware of unwanted tag-along ware.

    p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post if it helps you get responses.
