Slowness when typing in fillable PDFs

Hello,

We recently migrated a large group of users to a new Windows Server 2016 Terminal Server environment. Several of our users have reported a noticeable lag when typing in fillable PDFs while using Acrobat Reader DC; there is about a 5 to 10 second delay between typing and when the characters will fill in. Has anyone noticed this issue before and if so, what steps were taken to resolve?

Thanks in advance!

Jon

Hello Jonathonr,

We're sorry for the trouble you had with Adobe Reader, what is the version of Adobe Reader you are using in which you are experiencing the lag issue while filling the PDF forms? To identify, please refer to Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC

Is it specific to one PDF form or with all the PDF forms?

If it is specific to one PDF form, is it possible to share the file with us so that we can test it at our end? Share the file by direct/private message only How Do I Send Private Message

For testing purpose, please disable the "Protected Mode at startup' and "Enhanced Security' from Edit menu of Adobe Reader>Preferences>Security(Enhanced)> uncheck these two options, click OK, restart the application and check.

Note: Disabling the Protected Mode and Enhanced Security is only for testing purpose, please enable it back.

Install the latest update of Adobe Reader 19.010.20098 from help>check for updates, reboot the machine if possible and check.

Let us know how it goes and share your observation.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

Also, share a fillable PDF form as the current file you shared can be filled only by using Adobe Fill and Sign tool.

Are you using Adobe Fill and Sign tool to fill the details as this does not contain any form fields.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

We are not using the Adobe Fill and Sign tool. I shared the wrong file. I'm currently retesting with our users since I was unable to reproduce the issue and when I tested with another user, they couldn't either. I'll keep you in the loop on this.

  1. I checked the version and we are running the Continuous Release of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, version 2019.010.20098.
  2. The issue appears to occur with all fillable PDF forms that users have encountered so far.
  3. See answer #2.

I will post back with the results of the Protected Mode and Enhanced Security once I've had time to test with the user(s).
