Smoldering persistent intense irritation
Here I am this morning, waiting for my machine to boot up and things get super sluggish. After several minutes, it is revealed that Adobe Reader has another update. Why this program demands to be updated more than 4 times any other program is baffling. Various extensions show that Adobe is trying to use NEARLY 2 DOZEN trackers, adware apps, cookies, and assorted garbage. I would just turn on auto-updating but there does not appear to be any way to do so without signing up for the "free" and "will not slow down your computer" bogus Mcafee programs. The problem is that Adobe is ALREADY slowing my computer down with all this garbage, so claiming that voluntarily signing up for more of it will not result in slowdowns is a bit disingenuous.
I am now going to spend the day researching alternatives to adobe reader and then I will spend another day spamming the internet with these alternatives, convincing as much of the world as I can to abandon your otherwise good product. Here is a clue: T h e m a r k e t i n g i n d u s t r y i s INSANE. The assault on the general public's privacy, time and attention appears completely unchecked and unspooled. One or two cookies? a single tracker? Fine. It is like buying a car that is completely encased in duct tape printed with advertisements to the point where you can barely get into the car, much less drive it with the windows blanketed in ads.
