"Software Failure" error when typing in Reader expandable forms

We have a form created in LiveCycle Designer that has expandable forms/textboxes.  In the current version of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (2021.011.20039) both 32 and 64 bit, the application crashes with a "Software Failure" error after you type in the textbox while the application is trying to expand it (it also takes the software a relatively long time to expand the box).  This occurs in all different places in the document (it is not a corrupt control).  If I download and install the Foxit Reader, that application has no problem (no errors) with the expandable textboxes on the form.  Has anyone else encountered this?
