Question

Sound Clips Unplayable

I created sound clips within a PDF file. When I play them, nothing happens! Even for previously created sound clips in older PDF files, when double-clicked, nothing happens. Sound is working properly on my Laptop (record/listen). I am using the lastest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, and Windows 10. When I sent the file to two colleagues, they were not able to playback the sound clip.

Any idea on how to make them playable again???

Thank you

Hi Rouchdy

We are sorry for the trouble. As described, you are unable to play the sound clip in the PDF file.

Is this a behavior with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check.

Would you mind sharing the version of the Adobe Acrobat Reader DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Adobe Acrobat and make sure you have the version 20.12.20043 installed. Go to Help > Check for Updates.

For more information please look at the help page https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/index.html

Also please try to turn off the protected mode for testing. Go to Edit >  Preferences > Enhanced Security > Uncheck 'Enable protected mode at startup' , disable the protected mode and uncheck the enhanced security > Click OK and reboot the computer.
Note: Turning off the protected mode may possess security risks, please turn on the security after testing.

Also check the settings of Multimedia Trust (legacy) and Multimedia(legacy) as shown below:

For more information, please look at the help page https://helpx.adobe.com/in/acrobat/using/playing-video-audio-multimedia-formats.html

If it still doesn't work, please share the PDF file and the sound clip so that we can check it at our end for testing. Please upload the file to the document cloud https://documentcloud.adobe.com/link/home/ generate the link and share it with us.

Thank you Amal for your reply....

1- As mentioned in my first message, it does not occur with a particular PDF file : it happens with all the PDFs, even those previously created ( and which were working properly).

2- Again, as mentioned previously, I do have the latest version of the Adobe Acrobat Reader DC; when I ask for updating, I receive a message saying that there is no need to do so. Here is the version:

3- I turned off the protected mode for testing, and the settings of Multimedia Trust (legacy) and Multimedia(legacy) are as you directed.

The problem in still there, even when I share the file with colleagues, they are unable to play the audio, amid showing a file capacity indicating that the recording is there.

For your convenience, and as requested, please find herewith the link for part of a PDF file containing two audio recordings:

Thank you.
