Question

Space symbol not showing after caret symbol when inserting space

Since an update that took place on 6th November, if I place the cursor between two letters and press the space bar, ie to insert a space, then the space symbol does not show – only the caret symbol. The Comments box does actually have a space within it (you can't physically see it but if you place your cursor within it and press the right arrow key, the cursor will move one space); however, you can see on the PDF that a space has been inserted. The same thing happens if I select a group of characters and press the space bar to 'replace' those characters with a space.
I attach a screen shot: the first markup is one I did before the update; the second two shows what happens after the update.
Does anyone have any ideas how to get a visible space symbol back please? I have a PDF that needs returning to a client which now has inconsistencies in the markup.

Hi

I'm using Adobe Acrobat. Sadly, your product doesn't tell you what version you are using or have an "about Acrobat" like it used to, and like what Microsoft products have. But I do have "automatically update" and it was installed with the Creative Cloud subscription. So I assume it is the most recent version of Adobe Acrobat.

I have a pdf open. I want to insert a comment in it that tells compositing to insert a space a certain place in the document. I do one of two things--neither results in a symbol that has a caret and a space in it:

1. I click on add comment and then insert text. I type a space and  click on Post, or hit Ctl Enter to post the document. I get a ^ symbol and in the dialog box is empty space. Well, it has a space in it, but that's pretty difficult to see.

2. I have the select arrow enabled. I position the cursor where I want the text inserted. I type a space, it inserts the space, and shows a caret, but not the caret with the space next to it.

The same happens with a line break. All the Adobe document says it should show a caret and an underline when a space is added, or a caret and a paragraph symbol, when a new line is entered. It doesn't do this for me with this new version of Adobe.

One of my project managers uses, I guess, an old version. Maybe not the CC version. His creates a caret and the space symbol.

Several years ago, the version of Adobe I used worked as promised. This version does not. Please fix it! Here's a picture of what I get when I insert only a space:

Notice, no _ after the caret.

So I have Adobe Enterprise, and so apparently I'm not entitled to any Adobe help or support. This is the only venue to get this figured out. It doesn't work. No one knows why, and Adobe won't help.

Hi Phillip R2686523487b2,

Sorry about the delay in response.

You can check the application version using the steps suggested here: https://adobe.ly/4nOsv2Q

Could you please share the screenshot of how exactly you wish the comment appeared? And how is it appearing? Sorry, but we do not understand the workflow mentioned above. It would be easier to understand if you could share the screen recording of the steps you use and how it used to work.

Feel free to let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

I have the same question. Some of my proofers have the space symbol after the caret, and I do not. I'd like it back. Any ideas??
