Question

Sporadic Print Issues - Reader XI and DC

At my company, we've received numerous calls from users that have issues when attempting to print. This does not always occur, but when it does:

  • The user often receives the following error messages first
    • The document could not be printed
    • An error occurred while printing the document
  • Attempting to print afterwards results in no progress bar and no print job
  • Changing the printer and printing SHOWS a progress bar, but no print job
  • Closing and reopening the PDF results in successful print job after attempting again

This is very sporadic and difficult to recreate. This has also occurred during the 3rd or 4th print of a single document that remained open as well. This is not linked to a single PDF file, printer, folder, etc.

Additional Notes:

  • All other applications work fine and never experience this issue
  • While Adobe is experiencing the issue, all other applications print fine
  • Currently using Ricoh Universal Print Driver 4.18 PCL6 on all printers
    • We are updating to 4.21 PCL6 in a couple weeks to rule out the older version of UPD
  • This occurred on both XI and DC versions

HI,

We have been facing a similar issue recently with Adobe DC. The printing works with all other applications. We tried installed Adoce XI and it works but however the application updates itself to DC and then the same issue occurs. We have seen that if you do the below from Edit--> preferences-->security (enhanced)

  • Uncheck 'Enable Protected mode at startup'
  • Uncheck 'Enable enhanced security'
  • Check 'Automatically trust documents with valid certification'

However all these settings revert on restart or upgrade. This is causing much incovenience to our 500+ users and the helpdesk is swarmed with calls.

Any solutions ?
