    Hello Docback,

We're sorry for the trouble you had with Adobe Reader, as correctly mentioned by Gilad D, try running a full scan using an Anti-Virus to remove any possibility of any malware or virus.

As you mentioned that you ran Norton and nothing was found, try disabling Adobe Reader from startup items in Windows, for steps you can refer to Microsoft support link https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/4026268/windows-10-change-startup-apps

Reboot the machine after disabling Adobe Reader from startup items.

Launch Adobe Reader and repair the installation files from help>repair installation, reboot the machine again. Then check for any pending updates of Adobe Reader from help>check for updates.

If the issue still persists, please use Acrobat cleaner tool to remove Adobe Reader Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

Reboot the machine and install the latest version of Adobe Reader from Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution

let us know how it goes and share your observation.

    Thanks,

    Anand Sri.

I did just as you directed and found  under App Dat/local/YxKonji the gimjyxw.ahehnu file that acrobat reader was trying to open.  This was tied to a file hziv.  I was able to locate these 2 files and I then deleted them.  When I rebooted I no longer had any issues and acrobat reader seems to work as it should.  Thanks a million for the helpful quick direction.

Did a full scan using Norton Security Suite and nothing was found.  I too had suspected a virus or malware
