Text Boxes won't allow characters but are clickable and show a black square???

Hi, I have created a PDF for customers to fill in numbers for orders beside each product, this was working fine for ages and now is showing up as black dots, it won't allow the customer to insert a number or character but click the box and then it fills it with a black square.

Can anyone advise?
