Text comments are too light. How do I fix?

I type a text comment and it looks fine. However as soon as I leave the box the text is much too light.

I can change font and size and color, but everything is light. I can barely read the text on screen.

It's probably the opacity level. It's possible to change it but doing it in Reader is tricky. The question is how you were able to change it in the first place...

It seems to me I had made some changes and then Reader updated itself to the latest version and I wasn't able to get back to however I did it. 

So how do I change it? Would uninstalling and reinstalling do it?

I uninstalled, used the Adobe Reader cleaner, and reinstalled, and that seems to have fixed the issue.
