Text disappears behind highlight

Question

When I highlight certain characters of a scanned document, it looks fine to me and to others.  But to yet others, all they see is the highlight, not the characters behind the highlight.  Is it because they may be on a different version?

Can you provide a screen shot of what you see and of what they see?

What version of Adobe Acrobat Reader are you using?

Are they using Reader or something else to view the PDFs? What are they using and what version? They may or may not be using Reader to view the file.

Does the same thing happen when you highlight text that was not scanned?
